In our Business Spotlight Series, we will highlight various businesses within our community who we have had a pleasure of working with as we assist in helping bring their business dreams to life.
In this edition, we highlight Sisu Living, a home and community-based service organization located in Sauk Rapids that strives to empower individuals through personalized care and support while enabling them to live independently and with dignity.
Background
In 2022 while barely knowing each other, the trio of Summer Collins, Randi Woodford and Amber Harmon joined forces and became business partners to turn a once dream into a reality when they launched Sisu Living.
Fast forward to 2026, Sisu Living has 15 employees, two offices and have changed many lives along the way. Sisu Living credits its growth to its dedicated team as well as the people who open the doors to allow for support in living their lives on their terms.
"Sisu" is an untranslatable Finnish term that holds deep meaning and emotional significance. It represents the steadfast resilience that allows us to keep fighting, stay true to ourselves, and never give up — even when odds are against us. The “Living” part of Sisu Living emphasizes life. Not just surviving, but thriving to the best of our abilities and dreams.
Relationship With SCFCU
In 2022, when Collins established Sisu Living and later partnered with Woodford and Harmon, she wasn’t quiet sure what to do or where to go from there while starting a business. While looking for an SBA loan, they didn’t have the bandwidth to pursue one while getting Sisu Living off the ground.
That’s when they turned to SCFCU, who they knew they could trust and feel supported by no matter what goal or dream they had. Since then, SCFCU has assisted Sisu Living with other business endeavors, including purchasing an additional building to add a second office as the business continues to grow.
