SCFCU's Eunice Adjei Appointed to Governor's Council on the MLK Jr. Holiday

St. Cloud Financial Credit Union is proud to announce that SCFCU Director of Multicultural Services Eunice Adjei has been one of the select few individuals in the state to be appointed to a state council.

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagen announced the appointment of six people across Minnesota to make up the Governor’s Council on the Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday, with Adjei being appointed effective Aug. 6. Adjei’s term on the council will run through Jan. 4, 2027.

“Being appointed to the Governor’s Council on the MLK Jr. Holiday is truly an honor. It feels humbling to be recognized for my commitment to fostering understanding and unity within our diverse communities,” Adjei said. “This opportunity allows me to further my dedication to creating inclusive spaces where everyone’s voice is heard, and it reinforces my belief that celebrating our multicultural identities is essential to building a stronger, more connected community."

The Governor’s Council on the Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday helps plan celebrations to bring the community together, reflects and builds on the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., celebrates the Black experience and strengthens connections. More information about the council can be found on the Secretary of State’s website.

Adjei has been deeply involved in the community for more than a decade, notably with helping organize and take part in numerous MLK Holiday events over the years. She is the founder of the Jugaad Leadership Program, a program that was developed in 2015 to empower the community to assume responsibility for positive social change. In 2024, Adjei was honored by the Stearns County Board of Commissioners for nearly a decade of service on the Stearns County Human Services Advisory Committee while contributing to initiatives that support our community’s most vulnerable populations.

“I’ve had the privilege of being involved in MLK events for over a decade, helping to organize and participate in celebrations that honor Dr. King’s legacy and promote social justice,” Adjei said. “Serving on this council continues my lifelong commitment to uplifting diverse populations, and I look forward to working alongside others to ensure these important conversations and celebrations inspire positive change across Minnesota.”

Adjei has been in her role at SCFCU since 2023 and leads initiatives and strategies to support the multicultural community and the surrounding community at large.
