SCFCU Employees Give Back During Community Day

St. Cloud Financial Credit Union strives to make a meaningful difference for all while taking purposeful action within our surrounding communities. We’re here for our members and our communities beyond just their financial needs.

One avenue of doing that and giving back is through SCFCU’s Community Day, which is part of the Minnesota Credit Union Network’s CU Forward Day and annually takes place on Columbus Day and Indigenous Peoples Day, a federal holiday where all SCFCU branches are closed. Though branches are closed, SCFCU employees designate that day to come together and volunteer within the community.

“Community is when we take purposeful action within our communities. It’s such a great day where we close our offices to allow our employees to not only build relationships with one another, but we get to go out and make a difference in our community,” SCFCU President and CEO Jed Meyer said. “We love giving back, that’s part of who we are is to be a fabric of the community. It’s a great all-around day that our organization benefits from, but ultimately the outcome is that the community benefits from the work we are doing together.”

On Oct. 14, SCFCU employees displayed their passion for helping people and their belief in giving back by supporting three organizations in different pockets of the Central Minnesota community.

Employees spent the day working in the community, volunteering at Joah’s Ark Petting Zoo, at the Sartell Community Center and with the City of St. Cloud at Whitney Recreation Center. At Joah’s Ark, employees assisted with painting, fencing and general clean-up work, while those at the Sartell Community Center helped organize books and put cards together to be sent to area veterans, while employees at Whitney Recreation Center cleaned, landscaped, painted and cleaned up garbage for the City of St. Cloud.

“We are really excited to a part of a bigger movement, CU Forward Day, where credit unions all around Minnesota are participating in community service and other acts of kindness around the state,” SCFCU Chief Experience Officer Meggan Schwirtz said. “St. Cloud Financial Credit Union is proud to be part of this day and representing here in the St. Cloud area. We are really excited to have all our employees here, because this is a part of what we do and it’s who we are.”
