SCFCU, St. Cloud State Partner for Personal Finance Sessions in April


April is National Financial Literacy Month, and St. Cloud Financial Credit Union is partnering with St. Cloud State’s Center for Economic Education to offer free personal finance sessions so you can take on your finances with confidence.

Every Tuesday in April, SCFCU and SCSU will host “Money Matters: Personal Finance 101” sessions, highlighting a different topic each week. The sessions will be held from 9-10 a.m. in Voyageurs South in the Atwood Memorial Center on the campus of SCSU.

Students, faculty and staff and community members are all welcome to join these sessions, which will feature complimentary breakfast while you learn. And attendees will be able to enter their name into a drawing for free prizes each week.

To attend, you are asked to RSVP at least one week prior to each session. You can RSVP online or by emailing Cindy Fitzthum at cjfitzthum@stcloudstate.edu.

Here’s the full lineup of sessions, which will be presented by a SCFCU employee each week:

April 7 — Digital Assets

Bitcoin, Crypto, digital assets ... what are all of these terms and how do they work? Join us for a crash course in digital assets and leave with a basic understanding of them.

April 14 — Money Skills & Frugal Living

What are the top five skills I need to manage my money? How do I live frugally? A great financial future can be yours if you start planning now and understand the psychology of money choices!

April 21 — Debt, Credit, Loans

How do I build credit? What should I know about debt and loans? How do I start repaying my debt after college? What do all of these terms on my credit card statement mean?

April 28 — Car Buying

Is it better to lease or buy a car? How much will this car really cost me to own? Join us as we look at all aspects of buying and maintaining a car.
